Fox Business host Lou Dobbs questioned if authorities ruling out arson as a cause of the Notre Dame cathedral fire yesterday made a “political decision” rather than an informed one.
“One thing authorities are ruling out, however, within just a matter of hours, arson,” Dobbs noted.
“That was a decision made within hours. It sounds like a different kind of decision,” he added later. “Perhaps a political decision rather than one based on careful investigation of the facts.”
To support questions about the politicization of the ruling out of arson, Dobbs cited a report from the International Business Times on a vandalism spike of French churches:
In the aftermath of the fire that burned down significant parts of the Notre Dame cathedral yesterday, Twitter rallied around three black churches burned down in suspected hate crimes and raised over $300,000 for their reconstruction.
In a viral Twitter thread, journalist Yashar Ali noted that while rebuilding efforts will be “well funded” in Paris, money for fixing three black churches in a Louisiana parish — which were burned down in a two week period by a suspect charged with hate crimes — may not be as plentiful.
“In the past month, three historically black churches in Louisiana were destroyed by a racist arsonist,” Ali wrote. “He has been charged with hate crimes, but these churches need your help. Please join me in donating.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue railed against Fox News on Tuesday for kicking him off their air because of his conspiratorial speculations about the Notre Dame fire in Paris.
Neil Cavuto briefly had Donohue on his show yesterday during live coverage of the blaze that ravaged the Parisian cathedral. Donohue used the opportunity to throw out evidence-free suspicions on how the fire might’ve started, and despite Cavuto warning him to cut it out, Donohue continued to insinuate that the fire could’ve been caused by a deliberate and malicious act.
This caused Cavuto to terminate the conversation.
The dumped call was discussed on 77 WABC’s Bernie and Sid in the Morning, where hosts Bernie McGuirk and Sid Rosenberg defended Donohue by saying he was “horrifically” treated by Cavuto and the “more-rational answer” is that the fire was caused by terrorism. Donohue went on to say said that he blames Fox News’ Continue reading "Bill Donohue Blasts Fox News For Cutting Off His Notre Dame Speculations: Ailes Would Have Never Put Up With This"
Tucker Carlson‘s favorite recurring guest, Mark Steyn, reacted to the Notre Dame Cathedral fire on Monday night by calling the French “godless” while warning of a rising tide of Islam in France.
It is currently not clear what started the fire that engulfed the iconic Parisian landmark — police suspect an accident related to construction — but fortunately, it seems Notre Dame will survive as a whole, albeit heavily damaged. When Steyn was asked for his reaction on Carlson’s show, he remarked that “Christendom is in retreat in Europe,” and said polls about the French’s belief in secularism indicates they are “among the most Godless people in that sense.”
Steyn went on to describe a trip he once took to France, remarking that he visited a Catholic church outside of Paris in Saint Denis that he described as a “Christian museum in the heart of what is Continue reading "Fox News Guest Mark Steyn Calls the French ‘Godless’ While Reacting to Notre Dame Fire"
Glenn Beck speculated on what could have caused the Notre Dame fire today, saying that if it turns out to have been “started by Islamists,” people won’t find out.
Permultiplereports, arson has been ruled out and officials are investigating as “involuntary destruction caused by fire.” There’s no evidence yet suggesting it was an act of terror.
In a discussion on The News and Why It Matters, Beck expressed horror at the fire at such a significant building in world history.

French President Emmanuel Macron spoke on the tragic Notre Dame fire earlier tonight and pledged that “we will rebuild this cathedral.”
He thanked the many firefighters who fought the flames for hours and said, “In the last hours, thanks to their dedication and the dedication of all the instruments of state, the municipality of Paris, the personnel of Notre Dame, the worst has been avoided, even if the battle has not yet been completely won. The coming hours will be difficult ones, but thanks to their courage, the facade and the two bell towers have not collapsed.”
“Notre Dame of Paris is our history, our literature, our imagination,” Macron continued, “the place where our big historical moments, plagues, wars, liberation––it is at the very heart of our lives. It is from there that we count the distance to all the other, all other places. It is the milestone. Continue reading "President Macron Speaks on Notre Dame Fire: ‘We Will Rebuild’"

Gérard Araud, the French ambassador to the United States, spoke with CNN’s Jake Tapper this afternoon about the tragic fire at Notre Dame and started off by expressing, “I didn’t think that I could be so emotional.”
The roof and spire of the historic cathedral collapsed and as of around 4 pm ET, Tapper reported that per one fire official, the next 90 minutes are crucial to save what remains of Notre Dame.
“For us, for the French, it’s the symbol of Paris,” Araud said. “I can’t think of the skyline of Paris without the spire of Notre Dame, which has just collapsed. It’s 1000 years of my history. It’s our national identity which is burning. You know, it’s awful. You know, I’m sorry to be so emotional, but, you know, there are not words to say.”
He told Tapper that this disaster made it clear just Continue reading "French Ambassador to the US Gets Emotional Talking Notre Dame on CNN: ‘It Was a Part of Ourselves’"
Fox News’ Neil Cavuto had to hang up on Catholic League president Bill Donohue during live coverage of the Notre Dame fire when the conservative activist refused to stop speculating about the cause of the blaze.
Donahue was a guest on Monday’s edition of Your World with Neil Cavuto, and managed to last just over seventy seconds before Cavuto was forced to dump him.
Cavuto began by musing that the cathedral will never be the same, as it was, and Donohue replied “Well, Neil, if it is an accident, it’s a monumental tragedy. but forgive me for being suspicious.”
“Just last month, a 17th century church was set on fire in Paris,” Donohue continued. “We have seen Tabernacles knocked down, crosses have been torn down, statues have been smashed.”
“Bill, we don’t know that, we don’t know,” Cavuto interrupted. “So if we can avoid what your suspicions Continue reading "Fox Anchor Hangs Up On Bill Donohue for Speculating About Cause of Notre Dame Fire"
Fox News anchor Shep Smith kicked a French media figure off the network today after he began conspiring about the supposed malicious cause of the fire at Notre Dame.
Smith’s guest, Philippe Karsenty — the deputy mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine — was at the scene at the start of the Paris fire.
“It’s like a 9/11, it’s a French 9/11. It’s a big shock,” Karsenty said, before wildly claiming that “we’ve had churches desecrated each and every week all over France” over the past few years.
“So, of course, you will hear the story of the political correctness which will tell you it’s probably an accident, but I don’t think,” Karsenty added before he was abruptly cut off by Smith.
“Sir, sir, we’re not going to speculate of the cause of something that we don’t know,” shot back the Fox News anchor. “If you have observations or you know something, we Continue reading "Shep Smith Ends Interview With French Official Floating Notre Dame Conspiracy: ‘We’re Not Doing That Here … Not On My Watch’"
“We are watching history being destroyed in real time.”
That was how CNN’s Chris Cuomo opened as he appeared on air this afternoon to continue breaking news coverage of the horrific fire at Notre Dame cathedral.
“This is not about damage,” he said. “This is about the destruction of one of our oldest and best-known places of worship on the planet, Notre Dame.”
“The famous spire that is one of the easiest ways to identify Notre Dame is gone. Is that because it was weakened just by the fire? Had they hollowed out some of it as part of the restoration efforts? It’s not uncommon for work like this to go on at this cathedral. But you just saw it fall on the left of your screen. We don’t know about anybody inside, we don’t know about injuries,” Cuomo continued.

President Donald Trump tweeted this afternoon as he, like many many others, watched the coverage of the horrific fire at the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris.
“So horrible to watch the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris,” Trump tweeted.
He also offered a suggestion on how to put out the fire: “Perhaps flying water tankers could be used to put it out. Must act quickly!”

Notre Dame’s central spire has collapsed as the cathedral remains engulfed in a massive blaze.
Approximately one hour ago, the rooftop of the iconic Parisian landmark caught fire. Videos from the scene are pouring into social media, and several have emerged showing the church’s steeple coming down in flames.
A massive fire has broken out in one of Paris’ greatest architectural landmarks: Notre Dame Cathedral.
Details are still emerging but French news agency AFP confirmed that a fire is currently underway, citing a Parisian fire service.
Le Mondereported that the fire broke out in the attic of the historic monument before spreading to engulf a large section of the roof. A cathedral spokesperson has claimed that the fire was first reported at 5:50 p.m. local time and the building was evacuated shortly thereafter.
CNN broke in with coverage of the devastating blaze:
Images and video of billowing smoke directly emanating from the cathedral have gone viral, several of which have been embedded below. Watch a livestream of the fire at the bottom of this post.
