CNN analyst and White House correspondent April Ryan dismissed outgoing White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ sendoff party hosted by members of the media, as she instead took to Instagram on Friday to tell Sanders, “Girl, bye.” Ryan made the comment in response to a report that two White House press corps members planned a Monday night goodbye event at a high-end Washington, D.C. restaurant for Sanders, who is leaving her position in the administration at the end of the month. “I’m on a cross country flight and very disturbed that in the midst of these serious issues, of possible strikes against Iran, there was no briefing by Sarah Huckabee Sanders in over a 100 plus days,” Ryan began in her video condemning Sanders as she leaves. “The day she should of had a briefing she didn’t. Serious issues of life and death, serious issues of war, Continue reading "April Ryan Kicks Sarah Sanders on the Way Out: I’m Not Coming to Your Party, ‘Girl, Bye!’"

CNN chief White House correspondent and frequent Trump target Jim Acosta told ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel a bizarre story about the time Sarah Sanders tried to rope him into singing a Christmas carol with her just days after a judge forced her to reinstate his press pass. “After they took away my press pass, we had to go to court,” Acosta recalled of the incident late last year when then-Press Secretary Sanders revoked his official White House credentials after an incident at a presidential press conference. During the Q-and-A, Acosta had challenged President Donald Trump’s characterization of a migrant caravan in Mexico as an “invasion” and then he had refused to relinquish the microphone to a White House staffer, so he could ask a follow-up question. Afterwards, Trump Tweeted out that Acosta was a “rude, terrible person” and the White House tried to claim the CNN reporter had physically accosted Continue reading "CNN’s Jim Acosta Tells Bizarre Story About Sarah Sanders Trying to Sing a Christmas Carol With Him"

Some White House reporters are apparently planning to host goodbye drinks for departing White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders. HuffPost reports that Politico’s Anita Kumar and DailyMail’s Francesca Chambers have invited reporters and Donald Trump staffers to come to “farewell drinks” for Sanders at a swanky D.C. restaurant on June 24. Kumar, who sent the email announcing the event, described the drinks to HuffPost as a “casual gathering for reporters who have engaged with Sarah, many of whom have done so for years.” Kumar is a board member of the White House Correspondents’ Association and Chambers is the group’s treasurer. WHCA President Olivier Knox told HuffPost his group is not involved in the event. The sendoff is in spite of the fact that Sanders admitted to Special Counsel Robert Mueller she gave baseless information to reporters. Sanders has also not held a public press briefing in 101 days. On CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, guest host John Berman posed a serious question to former Clinton White House spokesman Joe Lockhart that would be otherwise unthinkable in any other presidency: Should this White House even name a new press secretary? “Well, I mean the press secretary’s job has multiple facets to it,” Lockhart noted. “The part that I think [outgoing press secretary Sarah Sanders] did do well was she defended the president. You should defend the president, but you have to defend him by telling the truth. She failed there.” On Thursday, President Donald Trump tweeted that Sanders would be leaving the job she has held for nearly two years at the end of July. Sanders’ tenure as the White House’s top press spokesperson has been marred by a highly contentious relationship with many White House correspondents as well as numerous examples of outright lying to the press and Continue reading "Former Clinton Press Sec on WH Replacing Sarah Sanders: ‘If Lying Is Acceptable,’ Trump Can ‘Be His Own Press Secretary’"

Last night on CNN, following the news that Sarah Sanders is leaving the White House, David Axelrod reacted by saying she’ll be remembered as “the spokesperson for a habitual liar.” “In this job, she was called upon to choose between her fidelity to Trump and her fidelity to the truth, and she chose Trump,” Axelrod added, saying her legacy will be one of “defending the indefensible.” Fox News’ Martha MacCallum spoke with Mike Huckabee tonight and asked him about Axelrod’s assessment of his daughter’s legacy. “People that don’t like Donald Trump don’t like my daughter,” Huckabee responded. “I’m a little surprised this came out of Axelrod,” he continued. “He’s a better person than that. He knows better. And I’m really shocked and surprised that he would go there to that degree. But again, he’s a CNN contributor. What is he gonna do? They pay people to hate President Continue reading "Mike Huckabee Fires Back at CNN’s David Axelrod for Comments on His Daughter: CNN ‘Pays People to Hate’ Trump"

MSNBC’s Chris Jansing put Anthony Scaramucci to the grindstone on Friday when she pressed the former White House communications director over his defense of Sarah Huckabee Sanders. As Scaramucci heaped praise on the outgoing press secretary, Jansing used much of their interview to focus on criticisms of Sanders’ untruths to the American people. To this end, Jansing brought up how Sanders told Robert Mueller she lied to the media, and how Sanders has been caught up in multiple falsehoods throughout her tenure. Scaramucci answered that some of Sanders’ statements were “defensible on her part [because] she did speak what she thought was the truth as the time she was saying certain things.” Jansing countered when the discussion arrived on Mueller, saying “[Sanders] only acknowledged [her lies] under oath.” Here’s the response from The Mooch.
“We have a tendency to be very sanctimonious about this. We have a Continue reading "MSNBC Host Grills Scaramucci Over Sarah Sanders’ Dishonesty: She Only Acknowledged Her Lies ‘Under Oath’"

Cortes — who regularly appears on CNN programs including; Anderson Cooper: 360, The Lead with Jake Tapper, and Cuomo Prime Time with Chris Cuomo — served on Trump’s Hispanic Advisory Council during the 2016 campaign and is now serving on Trump’s 2020 reelection advisory committee. MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson had a dicey moment with Sean Spicer on Friday when she accused him helping the Trump Administration set the standard for their dishonesty with the country. The former White House press secretary joined the MSNBC host to talk about Sarah Sanders’ legacy as Spicer’s successor, now that she is about to take her own leave from the White House. As the two discussed the administration’s relationship with the White House press corps, Jackson brought up public criticisms of Sanders’ level of truthfulness and honesty. “Sarah Sanders did not always tell the truth to reporters,” Jackson said. “Do you regret setting the precedent for dishonesty when you were at the podium?” “No,” Spicer answered with a chuckle. “No? None? Not at all?” Jackson continued. “None of the little things that you said weren’t true you regret none of them?” “I didn’t say that!” Spicer Continue reading "MSNBC Host Confronts Sean Spicer Over Sarah Sanders: ‘Do You Regret Setting the Precedent For Dishonesty?’"

CNN’s April Ryan Slams Outgoing WH Spox Sarah Sanders Once More For Old Times’ Sake

CNN political analyst and frequent Trump critic April Ryan slammed outgoing Trump spokesperson Sarah Sanders one more time on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon, saying that Sanders suffers from “lie-abetes” and was one of the two worst press secretaries — along with predecessor, Sean Spicer — she had seen in her 22-year history of covering the White House. Sanders had done “permanent damage” to the role of White House press secretary, Ryan said. “You know, prior to Sarah becoming press secretary I used to be able to go in her office and she would give you details,” Ryan explained. “But once you get in that room and you start making personal attacks when you don’t like the legitimate questions, there’s a problem.” As a former deputy press secretary to Sean Spicer when Trump came into office, Sanders rose to the job of chief White House spokesperson nearly two years Continue reading "CNN’s April Ryan Slams Outgoing WH Spox Sarah Sanders Once More For Old Times’ Sake"

CNN’s David Axelrod Slams Sarah Sanders’ Legacy as ‘Defending the Indefensible’, ‘Not Being Truthful’ With Americans

This post is by Reed Richardson from Mediaite

CNN political analyst David Axelrod slammed Sarah Sanders on Anderson Cooper 360, saying her legacy as White House press secretary will be one of “defending the indefensible, and not being truthful with the American people.” Sanders announced on Thursday that she will stepping down as the White House’s primary spokesperson at the end of June. She said she planned to return to her home state of Arkansas, where her father, Mike Huckabee, was once governor. Her tenure as press secretary was controversial, to say the least. She took over after President Donald Trump’s first spokesperson, Sean Spicer, after he routinely pilloried for not telling the truth, from Inauguration Day onward. Sanders’ pugnacious, give-no-quarter rhetorical style in dealing with the White House press corps mirrored that of her boss and often ran counter to reality and facts. In addition, Sanders effectively killed off the daily White House press Continue reading "CNN’s David Axelrod Slams Sarah Sanders’ Legacy as ‘Defending the Indefensible’, ‘Not Being Truthful’ With Americans"

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders leaves after a daily news briefing at the James Brady Press Briefing of the White House January 2, 2018 in Washington, DC. On Thursday, June 16 2019, President Donald Trump announced that Sanders is leaving her position. When the news broke that White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders is leaving her post, naturally all of media had immediate reactions, whether live on the air or, like many White House reporters, on Twitter. And in particular among those White House reporters, the issue of the lack of briefings held by Sanders in the last year, and the decline in briefings in general over the course of the administration, came up. A lot. HuffPo’s White House reporter Jennifer Bendery had maybe the most biting, roast-y slam.

But the jabs at Sanders and the White House over the lack of briefings was nearly Continue reading "WH Press Buries Sarah Sanders on Her Way Out Over Briefing Drought: ‘Help Wanted: Once a Year, Maybe Less’"

Fox News’ The Five heavily praised departing White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders following her announcement she is leaving the Donald Trump administration. “She was one of the trusted advisors of the president. In addition doing the press secretary role, she is somebody who he used as a counselor,” host Dana Perino told Jesse Watters. “She was in his inner circle, and it speaks to her talent and grace and compassion and intellect. She is going to be really missed because she was a real crusader for the Trump agenda,” Watters said. Those press conferences, we don’t see them as much as we used to but they can be very, very entertaining and combative,” Watters continued. Perino noted it has been over three months since her last press briefing. Katie Pavlich also praised Sanders. “Being in the room with Sarah Sanders when she was giving those briefings, it was hot Continue reading "Fox’s The Five Fawns Over Sarah Sanders: She Handled Press Briefings With ‘Grace’"

The news broke on Thursday, via a Tweet from President Donald Trump, that White House press secretary Sarah Sanders is moving on from the job and moving home. MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace was interviewing ousted former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe at the time, and the two discussed Sanders’ “legacy”, particularly with regard to the FBI, James Comey, and McCabe. Wallace said that the President tweeted it but didn’t read the full statement, saying that if you’re “curious” that you can “Google Donald Trump on Twitter.” “I want to ask you about Sarah Huckabee’s legacy,” said Wallace, using Sanders’ maiden name as many Democrats often do. “Because something that was revealed in the Mueller report was that she admitted, when she was interrogated by, or interviewed by Robert Mueller‘s investigators, that she just made up from Whole cloth hearse mirrors against Jim Comey the idea that–and I Continue reading "Andrew McCabe and Nicolle Wallace Share Their Glee Over Sarah Sanders Departure: ‘I Have to Say I Will Not Miss Her’"

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders made an impromptu appearance at a White House event to make an emotional goodbye after President Donald Trump announced she was leaving. “I’ll try not to get emotional, because I know that crying can make us look weak sometimes,” Sanders said. “This has been the honor of a lifetime, the opportunity of a lifetime.” “It’s one of the greatest jobs I could ever have. I have loved every minute, even the hard minutes. … the only one I can think of that might top it just a little bit is the fact that I’m a mom. I have three amazing kids. I’m going to spend a little more time with them,” Sanders said. Trump praised her and called her up to speak during a presentation on the First Step Act Thursday afternoon. “She comes from a great state, Arkansas. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was repeatedly asked about a report that President Donald Trump instructed aides to lie about internal polling that showed him trailing former Vice President Joe Biden in key states, and Sanders conspicuously failed to deny the story even a little bit. “After being briefed on a devastating 17-state poll conducted by his campaign pollster, Tony Fabrizio, Mr. Trump told aides to deny that his internal polling showed him trailing Mr. Biden in many of the states he needs to win, even though he is also trailing in public polls from key states like Texas, Michigan and Pennsylvania,” the reporting, from The New York TimesAnnie Karni and Maggie Haberman, said.
